Anime Review-Air Gear
 What do you get if you combine energetic teenagers, motorized skates, and lack of gravity? You get Oh! Great's Air Gear ,a high flying anime full of adventure. Following the story of Itsuki (Ikki) Minami ,an energetic gang member with great fighting experianc and a love of flying, Air Gear revolves around a growing craze known as Air Treck or AT. AT's are basically Rollerblades with small engines able to go at high speeds. Though not into it a first Ikki is eventually drawn into the world of AT after he is pummeled by an "team" of AT users.Aided by a great cast of characters including the sister like friend who secretly is in love with him (Ringo), two best friends (Kazuma and Onigiri) and even a Bipolar young boy who also falls in love with Ikki (Akito/Agito) Ikki is said to have the greatest "wings" ever seen in the AT world. He also watches a mysteioyus AT rider from afar everyday who seems to be extremely adept at what she does. Though the story is slightly different from the manga it still delivers great excitement to the veiwer through it's many comedic and action packed episodes. The anime lasts 25 episodes with a 21.5 special. With great music and and amazing visual detail this anime is really entertaining. In a direct comparison it resembles another Oh! Great creation known as Tenjou Tenge. With it's often vulgur language and many nude scenes I would recommend you be at least 13 years old to veiw this title but recommend you be around the age of 15 when you watch this. There is often times where there is alot of blood or the women of the series perform some suggestive acts so be sure to know you are ready to watch this show. Anyhow if I was to rate this anime personally I would give it a 4.9/5. Though it isn't perfect it is an extremely good anime title to watch. It is just as good the third time as it is the first. Personally my favorite character is Kazu due to his dedication and hidden talent though he is easily discouraged and is overlooked often. Seriously though if you are in the age group I mentioned and are "mature" look this one up. If you like it you can read the manga to continue to follow the story of the "future Sky King" |
