Zanpakuto Welcomes SunKissedSakura
Tuesday, Jun 10, 2008 12:21pm

I would like to take a moment to throw a welcome out to a very special member. SunKissedSakura was a rather popular AMV author from Youtube for the past year. She was made popular by her Naruto Chat and Ninja Idol videos featuring still shots and fanart from the Naruto series and creative, fan-written dialogue. Her Youtube "career" was brought to a screeching halt when Youtube decided to removed her videos and suspend her Youtube account for no good reason (thanks for nothing, Youtube!). She basically retreated to her DeviantArt account where she is today. Her videos have been removed from the Internet entirely, until now.

SunKissedSakura has authorized Zanpakuto to display her videos right here! They are hosted entirely on our server, so we do not depend on Youtube's cooperation. They will remain here until SunKissedSakura says otherwise. Thanks a lot, SKS! We're still thinking about you. :)

Lucky Star Hits DVD Shelves in America
Tuesday, May 13, 2008 1:10pm

Lucky Star DVDThe long anticipated sketch comedy anime, Lucky Star Vol 1, has finally been released in English on DVD. The series, created by Kagami Yoshimizu, has been released in North America by Bandai Kadokawa Pictures USA this month after a rather impressive following in its Japanese subtitled version.

The series follows the mildly amusing life of the infamous otaku Konata Izumi and her high school friends, Kagami, Tsukasa, and Miyuki. The series is very low action, but very cute and focuses mostly on soft humor. Lucky Star is an unusual anime for the many references to other popular anime titles currently on the market such as The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

The DVDs are available in stores and on the Internet.

Dragon Ball Live-Action Movie Photos Released
Monday, May 12, 2008 3:22pm

Dragon Ball Live-Action MovieShonen Jump, in its recent 24th issue, has published official photos from the new Dragon Ball live-action movie, starring Justin Chatwin as Son Goku. The movie is based on the popular fighting anime series by Akira Toriyama, scheduled for release in Japan in March 2009 and in the United States on April 3rd. Other actors scheduled to appear in the movie are Chow Yun-Fat (Master Roshi), Emmy Rossum (Bulma), Jamie Chung (Chichi), James Marsters (Piccolo), and Eriko Tamura (Mai).

It has also been rumored that Granpa Gohan (played by Randall Kim) will also be in the movie, but it does not seem likely that young Gohan (Goku's son) will be in the movie. As far as the overall storyline, it appears to be centered around Goku's earlier years, prior to the starting of the Dragon Ball Z storyline. That means we will not see any Saijin-related activities in the movie.
